Ohio E-schools:
http://www.ecotohio.org/home.php?section=what-is-ecot

The first time i saw a commercial for online learning for little kids in middle school /high school it bothered me to no end. I can see how in some cases it might be of some use. But e-schools are something i just am not sold on and find it almost disturbing. School is not just about learning subject matter but much more than that and why parents would chose to keep kids away from it (except in some extreme circumstances such as health issues etc.)is beyond me.
Any way so this new trend of e-schools have some supporters in government and some real big opposition from many people in ohio including think tanks such as Innovation Ohio.

Preeti,

I am all for online education for students of all levels. Attending school has not shown itself to be the safest or the best learning environment for all children in the US. You have but to look at the recent promotions for anti-bullying campaigns to see one example of why f2f school is not what it should be. Also, as far as interacting with other students or teachers, online education does not make that null and void. Here is an article discussing distance learning for younger students. http://www.greatschools.org/special-education/LD-ADHD/1014-online-classes-middle-and-high-school.gs

I can see how it can be useful , sure. But i just don't think we should be putting students through online courses at such young age esp in US where kids are constantly , 24x7 every second of their life are with their parents , parents are watching them non-stop .Its strange. SOme of my friends I see have kids glued to them every second and they have to actually help kids introduce and make friends with other kids. So instead why not work on changing environment and make it safe instead of coddling kids more!
